When she arrived she had a few surprises for me! This handmade gown is the same gown that my sister, Christy, wore when she came home from the hospital and it is the same gown that I wore 5 years later when I was born. We have a picture of my mom getting out of the car with me (in the gown) and Christy standing there looking at me. My niece, Jessica (Christy's daughter), wore it as well when she was born in 1991! I can't wait to find the perfect little outfit for her to wear underneath it for when she comes home!
These are the baby shoes that both of us wore and my silver baby cup too. I am going to polish the cup (you can barely see it, I should have done it before taking the picture) and display them on a shelf we are going to hang in her room.
We have decided to paint and hang wallpaper, divided by a chair rail in her room. The paint is a light lilac and the wallpaper has tiny green leaves on it. The middle fabric, the darker purple, is what is on the curtains. My mom found the lilac toile (it has little girls and bunnies on it!) on ebay and then we found the additional fabric at JoAnn's. All three will be incorporated into the bedding and into a quilt that my mom is going to make for her.
We found the exact kind of crib I have been looking for on Craig's List for next to nothing and a friend recently gave us a glider rocking chair. It is all coming together and I can't wait to see the finished room.
Mike is still working on the bathroom. He is working so hard; he comes home from work and then tiles for a couple of hours. With the holiday, he will have a couple full days to work on it and then we will paint! Here is a sneak peak of the tile job he is doing...
We are heading to Tuscaloosa to visit his family for Thanksgiving so I will be back towards the end of the week!
Happy Thanksgiving!

That is the sweetest little dress and story. I know you will cherish it and those tiny shoes. Awwwww, I bet that room is going to become a little girls dream. All of those special things from your past and the handmade extras your mom is going to make. That is one blessed baby~

What a treasured gown! I love family heirlooms that are handed down. Tradition ties the quilt blocks of our families together!

Oh, I cannot wait to see the nursery! Those fabric swatches are so something I would use! hehe! YEA! I'm excited! :o) Precious. And the little gown and shoes and cup are adorable, and even more wonderful with the family history they carry! My momma saved a LOT of our clothes, and thank goodness, they are in incredible condition. Amelia has worn many of the dresses so far, and I still have more that I look forwardto putting her in. So funny to see pictures of me in the outfits she is wearing now!!
And the bathroom looks great! That's so nice that your husband knows how to do so much of that stuff.
Happy Thanksgiving to y'all!!
I love all of the so sweet baby things. It really takes me back to a year ago for me. I had a March 2008 baby and she will be 9 months in 2 days! WOW! Congrats!
