A Poll

Do you ever have problems making decisions or are you one of those people that knows exactly what you want?

I am not necessarily known for my decision making skills; I tend to go with the flow and be indecisive or if I have something stuck in my mind that I know I want, I'll stick to my guns and not change my mind.

Because of this, we have come to a crossroad. Naming our baby girl. Mike likes one name, I like the other. So, we need a third opinion on what others think. We have both said that we might need to meet her before we make the final decision, but in the mean time (84 days!) we wanted to do a poll on what the readers of Nesting in Pleasant View think.

I won't tell you who likes what name....

1. Elizabeth "Ellie" Grace
2. Anna Grace

What do you think? Share your opinion in your comment.

We have only 2 stipulations for the name; we want it to be a "double name" and we would like for it to be traditional. We feel like we have exhausted every name in every single baby book, but if you have any other suggestions, please pass them along!

I know I may not be much help, because I am lovin' ♥♥♥ both names.

But I will tell you that my neice's name is Emma Grace, so I can at least say I like the "theme" you are going with!!
LOL!!

Good Luck!!

Of course, both names are beautiful! But I really like the ring that "Ellie Grace" has to it. :-)

PS: One more thought - My neice's name is Hannah Grace (& she's called the double name)- I love that one too!

Elizabeth Grace. Elizabeth has always been one of my favorite names, and the only girl name Jim and I both liked when we were debating Seth's name (obviously, before we knew it was a boy).

Please call me soon! I can't wait to meet you, and I really want to talk with you about some specific things!

I actually think that they are BOTH beautiful and elegant. I love Ellie Grace, it is a little different, and it is classy and fun at the same time - it does have a touch of cute to it. But I also love the name Anna, it is timeless. If you are trying to steer clear of cute, I would go with Anna.

Most of all, go with your gut, and ignore EVERYTHING that everyone else says. I think you are soooo right to wait until the day she is born. That would be such a special moment for you and your hubby... and don't worry, I am sure you won't leave the hospital undecided!!

Hi Sarah~
Okay, I am a little torn between the two. My good friend's daughter is named Ellie, so I really love that name! The second name is really sweet too, though.. Hum...I'd have to say the first one. (But I have to say also that I LOVE the middle name you have chosen, for the obvious reason that we gave that as part of our daughter's name!)

I love baby naming! (Especially when it's not my own and I can be free from all the stresses of matching to my last name...which isn't easy!)

Anyway, I honestly think you can't go wrong with either. I LOVE the name Grace and I am sure you both have serious meaning behind it. God's grace is so apparent in your story. I will say from my experience that there are a few less Annas out there...I love the name Ellie (it was on our list too, actually) but I wondered if she would be one of three Ellies in school, that kind of thing. But then, if you love it, who cares how many there are? Wow, I have been no help at all, have I? They are both adorable names!

P.S. How is the nursery coming? Will you be sure to show us photos when you get it put together? :)

If you wanted to sort of negotiate Ellie and Anna- my friends daughter's name is Ella. I think Ella Grace Caldwell sounds nice.

oh that was One L who wrote Ella Grace comment. :)

Hi there! It's nice to meet you via your blog. I have enjoyed reading through your posts. Congratulations on your new baby. I'm Alisa from Carolina Panache. I found your blog through Carolina Mama's Rollcall. Lived in TN for 7 years, now I live in the Charlotte area. Come by and visit me sometime. May God Bless & Favor you and your family.

But you know, Sarah, I was thinking about it after I commented and because you are doing the double name thing, it will be unique no matter what. I have never heard of a little girl named Ellie Grace or Anna Grace, so I think your little girl will stand out either way! One of the bloggers (of course now I can't remember who) that I visit has a little girl named Georgia Kate, and I think it is so pretty each time I see it referenced. I love the double name thing!

What beautiful names! My middle name is Grace, so of course I think you've chosen the very nicest middle name there is. And I also think it's really special that you'll use the double name; that combines the best parts of having classic names but still being a touch unique.

I really like both, but honestly Ellie Grace wins with me. Ellie is a name we had considered if we had a girl...3 sons later, we obviously haven't used it. :) But I still love it!

One L again- I also was saying the names out loud and fast and slow and also if you are yelling at her, haha, and saying her name. It seems Ellie Grace is fine if said slow but a little harder if said fast than something with an A at the end, whether that's Anna or Ella or Ava or whatever.

Sarah Mae said...

I am going to throw in my two cents sweet Sarah -

I don't think you should let anyone sway the two of you on names. I think eventually down the road, or perhaps right away, one of you will have hurt feelings over how the name was chosen. I encourage the two of you to pray about finding a name you both like, or that one of you would have a changed heart. I know how hard it can be - with our last one we didn't have a name until the last month, but God provided.

:) Just my opinion!

By the way, both names are beautiful!

Hi Sarah!! Thanks for finding my very new blog!! Im so excited to get to know so many new people...who are exactly like me, which honestly I didnt think there were any of in this world. I love how you say that the life our Lord has planned for us is way better than anything we could ever planned on our own. I always say, thank you Lord that you don't leave it up to me. I would ten times choose something He chooses over something I choose ANYDAY!!

Oh, and of course my vote ELLIE GRACE all the way!! Love it!!

Ok, I see someone already wrote this, but I think Ella Grace is just precious. It does kind of put both names together. Sounds really good.

I love the 2nd one but I am a little partial for a reason. My 8year old's middle name is Grace and my 4 year old's 1st name is Anna :)

I vote for Ellie Grace. :) It's cute and very fitting for a little girl, but can also grow into an adult name. I love that you have agreed on the middle name, Grace.

How about Abigail Grace?

Chris and I had the hardest time agreeing on a name. We went to the hospital with it narrowed down to Elizabeth Grace and Maggie Elizabeth. We knew when we saw her she was a Maggie. Both Ellie Grace and Anna Grace are beautiful names with wonderful meaning. Happy naming!

Elizabeth "Ellie" Grace... There are too many Anna Grace's around right now. And, your daughter can use Elizabeth or Ellie as she wishes throughout her life...
Elizabeth Grace...Ellie Grace...

Oh, I love them both! I am completely with you on wanting a traditional name! Either one of these that y'all pick will be beautiful! If we have a girl (which are my suspicions! hehe!), then we are thinking about Claire Elisabeth. I can't wait to see which name you pick! So when you say y'all want a double name, do you mean you will call her by both all the time? I love that idea! So sweet and precious!

Thought was popping by to say Hi and check in on you and realized I haven't given my grand opinion on the names! :) Love your choices. Partial to Ellie Grace. :) Can't wait to hear and see this sweet baby girl! I have two cousin with Grace in their names. Once uses just Grace.

Hey you are an honorary Southerner - two names! is a given. :)

I love Ellie!!! I have two boys, Ben and Max, but if we had a girl her name was going to be Ellie. No joke. Our last name is Appelbaum (it's a tough name). I thought little Ellie Appelbaum would have been so cute. Good luck deciding. I know it is sooo hard. Congrats on your pregnancy and many blessings to you.

Ellie Grace! Very pretty!
I understand how you feel about picking names though. When my oldest child was born we had three names picked out. I couldn't decide. So after he was born, I knew I would know what to name him. Apparently I did, because as soon as I saw him, I said his name and it was two that we had never put together. It was on his birth certificate before I could change my mind. :) And he is a Wesley Ryan!

Have a blessed Monday!

Anna Grace is the name of my God daughter so I think it is the most beautiful name in the world. If we had a girl instead of boys, I wanted the name Elizabeth so I smiled when I saw it on the comments.

Enjoy this season!

Ashley & Casey like the names. Ashley likes Elizabeth Grace better. Casey thinks Elizabeth and Anna are good but you should go with Amazing Grace!
