Back to School

Mike headed back to school this morning and boy was it hard for him to say goodbye to his girl! Having him home the past week has been wonderful for ALL of us. Now the countdown has begun to summer vacation.

I bought this lullaby CD this past week for Anna Claire. 2 of my favorite artists sing on it--Christy Knockels and Nicole Nordeman. It is so beautiful that I think I would listen to it even if I didn't have a baby! It would make a great gift to a new mother and you can get deal if you order a like new/used one from Amazon.com.

Tomorrow Anna Claire will be 6 weeks old! I am reading Prayers for New Mothers by Angela Thomas Guffey. It has been a great book to pick up and read a few pages based on what is going on with Anna Claire, my emotions, parenting, etc. She wrote something that struck me..."The child you hold in your arms proves again His great love for you." I know our daughter is a gift from God, but to hold her and contemplate parenting from God's point of view is amazing and I don't know that I comprehended this before she was here with us. It is the love and sacrifice that God showed us through Christ dying on the cross and in those moments, when he stepped back, and allowed the crucifixion to happen that really puts into perspective, for me at least, what deep, deep love He has for us, as his children. Being a parent has given me a glimpse of "His great love" for me that Angela talks about.
This "love"...it is the gift of mothering/fathering our little girl and also the amazing gift of being loved by a Father in heaven.

Oh my goodness, Sarah! She is just adorable and the picture of her and Daddy is frame worthy!
I remember holding Reilly in those first weeks and feeling like my heart physically "hurt" with the love that I couldn't contain. And then realizing that humanly that wasn't even a drop in the bucket of how God feels about me! It was a huge shift in my faith! You can't believe the lessons He will reveal to you through your "mother's heart". What a beautiful journey, thanks for allowing us a peek inside!

Look at those cheeks! She looks like she is thriving, Sarah. I can't wait to get my hands on her tomorrow! And I, too, love, love, love that CD. Now that we don't rock Seth to sleep anymore, I don't really have cause to listen to it....but soon enough, I'll have reason again, I guess! ;)

Look at those beautiful eye!! Hi, Precious Girl!!

Oh, I know exactly what you mean about becoming a mother and starting to understand (on a very limited level, of course) the love God has for us. I remember sitting in the nursery with her when she was still tiny and thinking of the love my Heavenly Father must have for me because of the unconditional love I now experience as a mother. And now that she is older, I understand something else about our relationships with God...when I see Amelia doing something that I know she shouldn't (for safety reasons or "wrong" reasons), and she doesn't listen to me, and does them anyway. It's so hard to watch her do those things that she, in her limited knowledge, must think is right/appropriate/etc, but I know aren't. It makes me think about how He must feel when I disobey. (I hope all that makes sense!) There are definitely so many blessings that come along with motherhood!

May the Lord bless you and Anna Claire at home this week and Mike as he gets back to work. And may summer seem right around the corner in some ways, and each day seem precious and treasured in between. :-)

She's such a doll baby! I got that CD when I was pregnant with Maggie, it plays in Max and Maggie's room every night. I love it! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time as a family for the week.

I identify with your sentiments, I think parenting opens a whole new window into our Father's heart. Becoming a mommy for the first time was an amazingly spiritual time for me.

Those pictures are simply precious, and I love to read your thoughts. You inspire me!

She is getting cuter by the day! I am so glad that you had an awesome Spring Break.
I have been wanting to tell you about MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) , I'm sure they have one in your town and it is a great place to meet other women going through the same stages of life. You may not want to go this year but the fall is when they usually begin. Look it up on the net and they will give you a contact person to call. It is usually held at a church and you get lots of great Christian advice. I was in MOPS and then I have been a mentor. I really think that you would enjoy it.
Blessings

Just popping in again to let you know that I gave you an award on my blog. I'm not sure if you like to participate with awards or not--if not, that is totally fine! :) But I did simply want you to know that I appreciate the way you share your faithful perspective on life. Thanks for being you!

She is just stunningly beautiful. I didn't want children for the longest time. I am so glad God knew better and blessed me with my two boys. I love and adore being a Mom. I thank God daily for these two handsome boys he has gifted me with.
