Moving

Nobody likes change. Especially me. You get accustomed to the way you have been living and then all of a sudden you realize that a change has to happen.

Moving...does anyone enjoy it? I sure don't. I like things to stay the same. I like people and places to stay where they are. I like the sounds and smells of my home. I know where things are.

To our family and friends, I'm so sorry we didn't tell you this before now. We just weren't anticipating it happening so soon. We didn't realize a decision like this would affect so many people.

We decided this morning that we have to move.

This little girl...

from her bassinet to this...(sniff, sniff)

We are hoping she likes her new digs. She's been visiting for her naps during the day and she seems to like the change of scenery.

Honestly, it feels like this is the first of many milestones she will reach as she grows up. Being a preemie, we were given the added bonus of needing to keep her in our room for few extra weeks, but as I think about putting her down tonight, (in there all by herself, without me to reach out to comfort her...sniff...sniff), I am envisioning sending her off to kindergarten, then graduating from high school, then getting married. Oh my.

Anna Claire, this is your mother. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GROW UP! I repeat, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GROW UP!

Look how big she's getting. Mom, you're gonna have to get used to it. This is the only job where your goal is to make yourself obsolete.
The bright side - you & hubby get your bedroom back (wink, wink).

I'm chuckling and tearing up as I read this. What mother hasn't felt this way or said those words before. It's so exciting to watch them become the little person God made them to be, at the same time you lose a little bit of your heart every time they pull away. I hope tonight goes well, more for you even than Anna Claire!

I just love seeing that sweet face. I think of a rainbow/Noah and how God keeps His promises. I see Anna Claire's sweet face... think of what you and Mike have gone through the past few years as a family. Loss, heartache, joy... yes, God keeps His promises! I know He keeps His promise to never takes His mighty eyes off your sweet little one!

Hope she loves her new digs. It's too pretty not to love!

Well, Sarah, that is what I told Ashley and look at her now. I feel your pain. Ashley is staying in Knoxville for the summer(sniff, sniff). As I told my sister, that is part of letting her go and I am not ready even though my little one is 20.

Sarah,
You are too funny. I actually thought for a moment, "they have to move...now?" How sad, we were just getting to know them. Great post. It makes me sad thinking of my own 3 too. I wish I could just hit the pause button at times. I love Steven Curtis Chapman's song, Cinderella. There's a line in there that says, "the clock will strike midnight and then she'll be gone". It reminds me to treasure every moment I have with these little blessings. I see you and Mike are already doing the same.

Oh, I wish that they didn't have to grow up. I can't even believe that my girls are mother's of their own little blessings.

Moving to the "big crib" is indeed a big transition. You can do it though. Just take a deep breath and it will be OK..

What a post! I thought YOU were moving. HA! Don't tell anyone but our son slept with us....not so much in the beginning but when he started having very high fevers 105 when he was small we started putting him in bed with us because I was so worried. It caught on and he stayed in our bed for some time. I am not against it but I do believe it is better not to start it. She will be fine....but will you?

It IS SO hard!! How about we say a prayer for each other this weekend? I think we are moving Henry into his crib too. I was not quite ready because he is still waking up at night to eat, and it's so much easier to just reach over to the bassinette and grab him, but my husband is ready. I can say this: Nina is two and a half, and she is such a good little sleeper. She feels so safe in her room and I love how peaceful it is in there at night when I go to check on her. So I can envision that as the final goal...even though right now Henry and Anna Claire seem so little! I will be thinking of you!@

Sarah, this is definately a big transition for both baby and mom. I've done it twice so far and have yet to do it with Ireland and she's 6 months. She is still in the bassinet beside me. I think it's just harder for me this time around to move her since she is probably our last per hubby. She takes naps in her crib but I still like her close by. Hugs and goodluck on this transition.

You had us going for a minute~ I kept thinking as I read about the "move", "but we just made some tentative plans...how sudden was this move???"

Your post makes me smile and remember the milestones my babies went through at that age. Your "move" is such a tangible act of leaving your baby in God's hands when yours aren't so close by.

Sleep well Mom and baby! Good night...

You're so tricky! I started reading and though, oh no! They have to move? But they've been working in their house and they just redid the bathroom. But, oh, it's not THAT kind of move! I've never had a little one sleeping soundly in my room, but I can imagine that it would be sad to move her into her own room. I have a feeling you might not sleep as soundly for the first few nights!

Hi Sarah -

I love your blog!!! I'm so glad that Marilyn gave me the link. I check in every so often to get caught up on Anna Claire and enjoy reading your words!! Your daughter is beautiful. I had to chuckle at the end of this blog when you tell Anna Claire not to grow up. It goes by SO fast. BOTH of our kids are going off to college this summer (sniff, sniff) Kiera transferring as a junior and Spencer going in as a freshman. It really does seem like yesterday that we were putting them in their cribs. I hope you are printing out these blogs for her. I know she will enjoy them as she is going off to college.

Hope to meet Anna Claire and see you soon.
