Last night was AMAZING! As the nurse was changing out the blankets and sheets in her incubator, she took off the "sunglasses" Anna Claire has to wear in order to be under the lights for the jaundice. As soon as she took off the velcro glasses, she opened up her eyes and we immediately started talking to her. She followed the sound of our voices and we were able to look our daughter in the eyes for the first time she was born! Oh, how beautiful she is!
Later in the evening, we were able to weigh her, give her a bath and then hold her. Karen, her nurse, was so sweet and encouraging to us as parents. Mike took this picture when I was holding her. We tell her how much we love her and all of the things we can't wait to do with her. She also got a stern warning last night that we expected her to have a "big poopie" so that she start to feel better! :)
I just got off the phone with her nurse to get the overnight report...no spells! Praise the Lord! We just need to work on that poopie!

I have not visited your blog in a while. Y'all and your new beautiful daughter will be in my prayers. My daughter was a preemie and weighed 4 1/2 pounds at birth. She had to wear those sunglasses too and came home with the best little tan. She never had to be in the NICU. She is now a beautiful 20 year old young woman at Baylor University.
My son is a surviving twin. He was in NICU for 16 days and then on the floor for another 5. He had all those tubes coming out of him just like your Anna Claire. He is now a 17 year old, baseball playing junior in high school.
I am telling you all of this because I am trying to ease your mind just a little. It is just amazing what can be done these days by medical professionals. I hope you get to bring Anna Claire home soon, with her beautiful little tan.
Oh...praise the LORD! Those eyes are truly beautiful! Our family continues to pray for your family!

Sarah, she is so beautiful. Praying that she comes home to her nursery soon!!
She is a dollbaby. I'm glad she's doing so well. Congrats on a beautiful baby.
She is absolutely beautiful!! Praying for that sweet day when she can come home!
Wow, so pretty! I think she looks like Mike, with your hair!!! One L
We sang "How Great Thou Art" in church this morning, and I was marveling that the God who created solar systems is also the God who is creating the fingernails on the baby in my own womb. Nothing is too big or too small for God's care and concern...which is why I'll be praying that your little girl will present a big poopie! God bless you all!
Wonderful! She is so pretty! I'm praying daily for you. So glad she has been "spell free" for a good amount of hours - praying that continues.
Please release yourself from feeling like you need to reply to our comments. All of your blog-friends who are moms well remember the days of early babyhood. We're just grateful to be able to come alongside of you and pray for you. You don't owe us a thing - except maybe... posting more darling baby pictures on your blog! :-)
She is BEAUTIFUL! I haven't checked your blog in a few weeks and was pleasantly surprised to see that Anna was already here! God is amazing and is working all things out to His glory. You will continue to be in my prayers!
Precious. She is so gorgeous and I know that must have been such a special moment. Nothing like seeing your childs eyes for the very first time.
I pray that she comes home soon!
Have a great day.
Sarah
