The Best $10 We've Spent

We bought this hummingbird feeder about a week and a half ago. THEY LOVE IT! I'm telling you it is like Animal Kingdom out here. We get so many hummingbirds, in fact tonight while we were eating dinner, there were 5 of them flying around fighting over this sugary red nectar. I think total I have seen around 7 of them flying around waiting for their turn. We got the feeder at Wal-Mart and the nectar is a mix. I have heard that you can use sugar water but the red color is what attracts them.

Mike got this shot (below) this afternoon. It is truly amazing how fast their little wings flap. They are the smallest things and when they are perched on the feeder, they drink the nectar so fast. I think they might eat us out of house and home. I just filled this day before yesterday and they have already gone through half of it.

We had Chicken Bruschetta tonight...oooh, it was so good!

I'm headed to Ohio tomorrow to visit Christy and my parents! So much fun! We have a big weekend planned with trips to Goodwill, the thrift store and so much more!

We love watching our hummingbirds too. They can get a little defensive, huh?

Hope you and Christy don't get too busy to blog over the next few days.

Have fun.

I just found your blog and am loving it. You have some great recipes.
In my hummingbird feeder I boil 4 cups of water and add 1 cup of sugar. When it's cool I fill my feeder with it. It's so much cheaper than the stuff at the stores.
Blessings~~

OH! I was going to say that I have used sugar water in mine when I ran out of the "red" stuff. Just boil the water, add the sugar, and let it cool. And I never noticed a difference with it.

We have had a record number of hummingbirds this year - they are even enjoying our geraniums! I am glad you are enjoying your feeder - so much fun to enjoy the beauty of God's creation 'up close and personal' like that!

I found you through your comment at Katie's blog - Harrington House. I thought if you were a kindred heart with her sweet self, you might be worth visiting, and I'm glad I came!

I love your blog! So fun to stop by and take a peek! We just put up a hummingbird feeder, too. We keep seeing the little ones flying around and I hope they find the feeder soon.:-)

I love your idea about framing the scrapbook paper for extra color. I think I will try it at my house! Thanks! Lori

That's pretty cool. My grandparents have hummingbirds and they are really neat to watch.

OHHHHHHHHHHHh love those little guys! We have a bunch of them...and they get VERY territorial. Did you know they weigh less than a penny? They also are quite clean and can get picky if the feeder gets too dirty. Sorry if too much info rofl. I have a hummingbird book. You also can use 3 parts water to 1 part sugar..and than I take some red food dye and put it in. I always enjoy visiting here! cherry

I keep meaning to get a feeder for the hummingbirds... I dont see any around. I wonder if they will find it? I do feed the other birds and watch a couple of red birds visit each morning.
